Methodist Girls High School Heritage Club performs naming ceremony

By Mohamed Faray Kargbo
‘Nothing has brought real joy to the Johnson family than the birth of their first daughter. Little wonder the naming ceremony was done with pomp and pageantry. The new mother sitting at the centre of the living room was filled with a justifiable anxiety, her face beaming with a cheerful exuberance. The baby’s smile was as sweet as strawberry and filled the mom with renewed energy. The Pastor could not help but did his best to make the ceremony interesting.’
The above depicts scenes in the short video of the Heritage Club of the Methodist Girls High School. Their entry for the cross-cultural short video contest is a Krio naming ceremony. They displayed their knowledge of this rite of passage with an unparalleled professionalism. Everything but the absence of male actors made the ceremony a real life event. The video would be adjudged among other videos sent in by other School Heritage Clubs.
The competition is sponsored by the International National Trusts Organization (INTO) and organized by the Monuments and Relics Commission (MRC). The winning video would be awarded a prize. Other schools are expected to send their entries sooner or later.
